From October 12 to 14, the Global Talents Tour to Hefei – Top University Elites Hefei Tour (Quantum Information Session) was successfully held. Unitary Quantum welcomed 59 master’s and doctoral students from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Institute of Technology, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and Southwest University. In an open and relaxed atmosphere, both sides conducted in-depth exchanges on topics including the cutting-edge technological development of trapped-ion quantum computing and career planning.

Professor Han Yongjian, Founder of Unitary Quantum, delivered a presentation titled Research Status of Trapped-Ion Quantum Computers: Pursuing Important yet Challenging Endeavors to visiting students. He stated that the QCCD trapped-ion quantum computing technical route can stably scale up qubit count while retaining the precision advantage of trapped-ion control, making it one of the most competitive pathways toward universal fault-tolerant quantum computing. Unitary Quantum remains the only enterprise in China conducting full-stack independent R&D of QCCD trapped-ion quantum computing. “We welcome young talents to join our company and strive together for the advancement of China’s quantum computing industry.”
Driven by continuous technological breakthroughs, Unitary Quantum has achieved a series of “firsts” over the past two to three years. It independently developed China’s first cryogenic chip-based ion trap; successfully built China’s first cryogenic chip-based trapped-ion quantum computing prototype; and became the first publicly reported company in China to pass the QV128 benchmark test. With sustained breakthroughs across hardware, software and other segments of trapped-ion quantum computing, Unitary Quantum keeps filling domestic gaps and achieving high-quality growth.

At the company exhibition hall, Dr. He Ran, General Manager of Unitary Quantum, briefed visiting students on the company’s development. He demonstrated and explained core trapped-ion quantum computing products including blade traps and chip-based ion traps, and illustrated the workflow and principles of QCCD trapped-ion quantum computing via an interactive QCCD game. He remarked that the company’s adoption of the QCCD route represents a commitment to undertaking “important yet challenging” work, and invites more outstanding talents to join and jointly advance domestic QCCD trapped-ion quantum computing technologies.

Dr. Chen Yilong, CTO of Unitary Quantum, and Dr. Tao Sijing, Director of Architecture, led student groups on tours of Unitary Quantum’s laboratories respectively. Visitors got a close look at physical trapped-ion quantum computers, observing the process in which the system captures, traps ions and manipulates ions to perform computation.
After the lab tour, the students visited the office area and held discussions with young researchers from various teams of the R&D center on trapped-ion quantum computing R&D, job responsibilities, and career planning for quantum information majors.
In-depth Face-to-face Discussions on Research and Career Topics
